Criminal law webinars for graduate and undergraduate students
Olliers are delighted to announce a series of webinars aimed at graduate and undergraduate students. The purpose of the webinars is to provide careers advice to aspiring entrants to the criminal law profession.
The details of the webinars are as follows:
Friday 17th April 2020 at 2pm – why now is a fantastic time to pursue a career in criminal defence
This session will be led by Matthew Claughton, Managing Director of Olliers.
Matthew is passionate about inspiring entrants to the criminal profession and oversees Olliers internship programme.
Friday 24th April 2020 at 2pm – advice in relation to CVs, social media, applying for intern scheme and training contracts
This session will be hosted by Ruth Peters, solicitor at Olliers. She will provide her insight into tailoring CVs and application letters from a backdrop of reviewing the many speculative applications received at Olliers.
She aims to provide tips into the use of social media and provide insight into the steps prospective employers may take when reviewing applications.
Friday 1st May at 2pm – the reality of life as a trainee solicitor in a criminal defence law firm
This session will be led by Lily Grundy. Lily is a trainee solicitor at Olliers having joined in September 2019.
She is currently undertaking the police station accreditation process and is undergoing a structured training contract programme. She joined Olliers after having taken part in our internship programme and can provide practical advice in relation to applying to law firms. She will also give a realistic account of day to day life as a trainee in a busy criminal defence law firm.
We aim to continue the series after these sessions and will provide details of other proposed webinars shortly.

To register for the webinars please email email@example.com with the subject of the email ‘careers webinar’ indicating which one (s) you wish to attend. if you have any specific questions you would like answered in the sessions please provide the same in the email although there will be interactive Q & A sessions during the webinars.
