Alex Preston of Olliers successfully represented a professional footballer from Preston North End FC in respect of the National Crime Agency’s long running investigation into football match fixing. He will not face charges and the matter is now at an end, following questions raised about the credibility of Mazher Mahmood (the ‘Fake Sheikh’), formerly the chief investigations reporter at The Sun newspaper.
