Matt Corn of Olliers Solicitors secures suspended sentence and a fine for Belgian national charged with air rage offence
Olliers Solicitors recently represented a Belgian national who appeared in court charged with an offence of common assault and being drunk on a flight following an incident on board a flight from Istanbul to Manchester.
It was alleged that whilst on board the passenger who had consumed a number of alcoholic drinks became abusive following suspicions that he had been smoking in the on-board toilet. Such abuse continued before the defendant assaulted a staff member. He was then detained and arrested by police upon the plane’s arrival at Manchester Airport.
Following lengthy and detailed mitigation by Matt Corn of Olliers Solicitors who represented the client, the court was successfully persuaded to avoid an immediate custodial sentence. The client was given a sentence of six months suspended for a period of two years together with a financial penalty, compensation and court costs.
The case was reported in the Sun.
