Advance Fee Fraud

Written 4th November 2013 by Olliers Solicitors

Olliers experience of defending advance fee fraud allegations dates back many years. The firm’s reputation for committed and rigorous defence work means that we attract some of the most complex fraud cases in the country.

Advance fee fraud involves a victim being persuaded to part with a substantial sum of money upfront in the hope and expectation of a much larger gain.

Potential victims are approached and presented with an opportunity that may appear too good to be true. Often this is via spam email, but other methods are also employed. The initial approach is intended to hook the victim into the proposal and thereafter an upfront payment will be required.

Once the payment is made the victim hears nothing.
