Virtual Insight Day at Criminal Defence Firm Olliers Solicitors

Written 10th July 2025 by Olliers Solicitors

We are delighted to announce the launch of Olliers’ 2025 Virtual Insight Day designed to offer law students an unparalleled opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of criminal defence.

This will take place on Friday 12th September 2025.

This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world legal practice, all from the convenience of your own home.

Why a Virtual Insight Day?

The legal profession is evolving and so are the ways we can gain practical experience.

At Olliers, we hold an annual summer internship programme over the summer months offering weeklong paid internships at our Manchester office. However, we receive hundreds of applications each year and are unable to offer as many internships as we would like, as we want to ensure that each placement is a meaningful experience – where interns are actively engaged, rather than simply reading case files all week.

Last year we held our first virtual insight day and given its success we are holding a further day this year.

What We Offer

Our Virtual Insight Day on Friday 12th September 2025 is meticulously designed to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.

Here’s what you can expect on the day:

  • Participate in a series of interactive workshops and seminars led by legal experts. Topics will include Q and A with our trainee solicitors, a day in the life of a number of our team, advocacy workshops, ethical considerations in criminal defence, forensic analysis of evidence and more.
  • Interns will work on simulated case files, preparing bail applications and simulated police station interviews. This hands-on experience is invaluable for understanding the intricacies of criminal defence.

Who Should Apply?

We are seeking motivated and passionate law students who are eager to learn and make a difference in the field of criminal defence:

Ideally candidates will:
