Martin Foran’s 1978 conviction for robbery has been referred to the Court of Appeal.
CCRC
The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) consider that there is a real possibility that Mr Foran’s conviction, for which he received a ten year sentence, will be quashed based on information, which has only just come to light, regarding the credibility of two police officers from the West Midlands Crime Squad, and on recent case law which indicates that, to uphold a conviction, it is no longer sufficient that the evidence of tainted officers is supported by officers to whom no criticism is attached.
Olliers Solicitors
Mr Foran is represented by Olliers Solicitors and Miss Elizabeth Nicholls of Lincoln House Chambers, both based in Manchester City Centre and who successfully appealed Mr Foran’s 1985 conviction for robbery in April 2013.
