Jack Tomlinson

Jack joined Olliers in 2023 having previously qualified as a solicitor at a leading firm in the Manchester area.

Jack represents clients at all stages of the criminal investigation process, understanding that the initial steps taken both at the police station and Magistrates’ Court are crucial in shaping how a case may proceed. He has developed a keen interest in pre-charge cases with successful outcomes obtained in respect of a variety of offences such as stalking, fraud and sexual offences following meticulous preparation.

Jack is also responsible for the preparation of Crown Court matters, with a developing case load of serious crime matters including sexual offences, offences against the person and murder.

Jack has also built a strong practice in the Magistrates’ Court advocacy team, representing clients frequently at first appearances, bail applications, sentence hearings and acting as trial advocate.

Jack is part of the Manchester Young Lawyers network and has been involved in the mentorship scheme partnered with Manchester Metropolitan University offering guidance and experience to undergraduate law students.

  • 2025 – R v MT – client acquitted at Minshull St Crown Court of non-fatal strangulation following no evidence offered at trial
  • 2025 – R v RM – acquittal following trial in the Magistrates’ Court for assault of an emergency worker
  • 2025 – R v JH – acquittal following trial in the Magistrates’ Court for breach of suspended sentence order
  • 2025 – R v JF – client acquitted of sexual assault following submission of no case to answer
  • 2025 – R v JH – community order penalty at Manchester Crown Court for client who pleaded to violent disorder stemming from involvement in the 2024  Stockport riots
  • 2025 – R v NR – client acquitted following 6-day trial at Minshull St Crown Court of two counts of causing death by careless driving
  • 2025 – R v CD –No Further Action obtained following successful pre-charge representations in respect of an allegation of fraud by abuse of position/theft

  • 2024 – R v RM – community order secured for client who pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by careless driving.
  • 2024 – R v JM – community order secured for client convicted of assault against an emergency worker and malicious communication offences.
  • 2024 R v LA – No Further Action taken for allegations of stalking and possession of class B drugs further to successful pre-charge representations to the police
  • 2024 R v KW – no further action taken against client following police interview in respect of alleged breaches of a non-molestation order following carefully drafted account by way of prepared statement
  • 2024 R v KK – failure to provide evidential specimen case discontinued following submission of a defence medical report supporting client’s account that the failure to provide blood was based on the grounds that the client suffered from PTSD
  • 2024 R v AS – community order secured for client following guilty plea to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The case involved a defendant, a security guard who assaulted a patient who was receiving hospital treatment. The case passed the custody threshold but with effective mitigation, a prison sentence was avoided
  • 2024 – R v NS – successful pre-charge representations to secure NFA for allegations of malicious communications
  • 2023 – R v JS – conditional discharge achieved further to a guilty plea for a domestic violence assault
  • 2023 – R v HN – NFA secured in domestic assault allegation further to early interaction with the police
