OLLIERS’ CLIENT HIT WITH £1 CONFISCATION ORDER

Written 25th June 2015 by Olliers Solicitors

An Olliers’ client has this week received a confiscation order in the sum of just £1.

At one stage the prosecution had sought an order under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA)against our client in excess of £400,000 made up of alleged “hidden” assets. On Monday at Sheffield Crown Court however, the prosecution conceded the defence arguments in respect of “benefit” and agreed that there were no hidden or other realisable assets. The client was therefore made the subject of a nominal order in the sum of just £1.

Specialist POCA representation

The client was represented by Matthew Corn of Olliers and Counsel Daniel Thomas of Lincoln House Chambers. Matt  specialises in all aspects of confiscation proceedings arising from drugs, fraud and money laundering matters.
