CLAUGHTON, MATTHEW

Matthew joined Olliers as a trainee in 1988 becoming a Partner in 1991.

He was appointed Managing Partner in 1995 and has overall responsibility for business development, planning, financial management and marketing.  He is also responsible for co-ordinating new business within the firm.

 

His background is as a Serious Crime Specialist and Fraud Litigator and his caseload invariably involves a number of complex and high profile cases, whether prosecuted by the Crown Prosecution Service, the Serious Fraud Office or Revenue and Customs Prosecutions Office. Matthew also acts for solicitors facing allegations of professional misconduct.

 

Chambers UK Solicitors Guide 2011 recognises Matthew as a Leading Individual in Criminal Law who ' always pushes the extra mile working above and beyond what is required'. The 2012 edition of Chambers again recognises him as a Key Individual giving credit for 'developing the practice to it's current position' and his 'attention to detail' observing that he is 'very personable and switched on'.  He is also singled out for mention by the Legal 500.

 

As well as being a member of The Law Society Matthew is a member of the Criminal Law Solicitors Association, The Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers and the Proceeds of Crime Lawyers Association.
