Criminal Cases

  • Secured the acquittal of a Defendant charged with murder in a 42 week trial - this we understand to have been the most expensive murder trial in history. Between January 2001 and January 2009 we have been instructed in 16 different murder cases.

  • In August 2007 concluded representation of defendant charged with murder dating back to 2001.  Proceedings lasted 4 years, there were two trials, 9 months of hearing time, two hung juries, - proceedings eventually discontinued.

  • Since 2006 we have been involved in several people smuggling cases, one involving the FBI with terrorism alleged, other cases have involved allegations of sexual exploitation. The cases have respectively involved investigations in Eastern Europe, Asia and South America, increasingly involved in control orders.

  • Defending allegation of £350m importation of cannabis - largest ever seizure in Liverpool.

  • Involved in a number of high profile terrorist allegations at investigation, prosecution and control order level.

  • Sports agency brief in connection with a much publicised criminal trial involving football agents in the North West.

  • Specialist defence cases involving intrusive surveillance and probe evidence - Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.

  • During 2006 successfully represented an appellant in the Court of Appeal in relation to a drugs conspiracy in which guideline case of R-v H & C was formulated.

  • Frequently instructed in allegations of armed robbery and drugs conspiracies.

  • Numerous instructions in internet based prosecutions during period ofJanuary 2008 - January 2009.
